Keep the channel locks at home and bring Vice Grips. I like the needle
nose model. But if you need to move a big nut, screw, whatever, the
standard model will do the job. Also can serve as an emergency shift
lever, brake lever, clutch lever, or toenail clipper.

OH YA, Vise grips (Locking pliers) even helps if Clutch cable breaks.
Just use your R. foot to "pull" in.

Victorinox "mechanic" model SAK.
It has an awl (for making holes in stuff like broken plastic panels to be "sewn" back together with zip ties),
Bottle opener, can opener, two flat blade screwdrivers, phillips screwdriver, tweezers AND... the most used
part of the one I have - a small set of pliers.

Standard old Leatherman, never leave home without it. I also carry a Crescent adjustable wrench 8" which will handle axle nut duty and stout enough to be hammered (God forbid) should the extra torque be required, and a 1/4" drive set of metric sockets, Metric multi Allen wrench tool, multi-tip screw driver (never get into the OEM toolkit, but keep it onboard.) And a folding pruning saw. Tire tools kept separate w/tubes and air pump. Zip ties/tape in the survival pack.

You're obviously a man of taste, Eddie. Could you recommend a fine Cognac ? Now if I could find some Japanese spec Philips bits to add to my Chapman set.

I bought my mechanic buddy a Chapman allen/screwdriver bit set for Christmas
year before last.
He loves it!

And if you are going to get a Vise-Grip, make sure you get the old USA
made unit. The new China sourced ones are made of soft steel and the
teeth go away the first time you put any pressure on them. BTW, Knipex
"Channel Locks" will act sort of like a vise-grip. If you push on the
rear handle, they just get tighter.
