I was at my Kawasaki dealer today where I have bought my KLR, Versys, and Concours....usually the cheapest dealer in our area. The 2013 KLR was $6900 out the door. I like the black and yellow one. The new Versys was over 8 grand. The Concours was around 15 grand. Glad I bought everything when I did. My 99 KLR was just a little over 5 grand out the door brand new. The 09 Versys was a left over I bought new in 2010 for $5600 out the door. My Connie I bought new in 2001 was $8100. Out of those three if I bought new today would probably be the Connie because of the 50 pony increase, ABS and stuff like that. But......not near the bucks as my buddies Harley he showed me yesterday.....for $23,000. He let me sit on it. Dang those things are top Heavy. Chrome is costly. He hates the seat on it....looks like a new accessory coming.

Like Ron, I've saved quite a bit buying new/leftover model bikes. Examples: $6000 for a $8700 PC800, $4k for a 1993 CB750 in 95', $5000 for a new 01' SV650(In Nov. 01'). Without really changing anything mechanically, design-wise, in 5 years, the KLR @ $6900 is a heck of a deal!
I remember paying $7.00 short of $6000 OTD for my then-new 09' KLR650.
Funny: I had paid in cash-cash and when the salesman went to get my change, I said with a grin, "Just give me an oil filter!"
He looked at me funny and said something like, "Those are about $13."
I laughed and reminded him of the wad of $100s he was holding and then asked him what the the filter cost him.
He gave me a filter. =)
As for Harleys, I won't have another one. Period.
I spent waaaaaaaaaay too much $ trying to make a 04' XL1200R comfortable and get it to run right (off-idle stumble from new).
When I sold it, I got to nearly $13k for the bike and accessories before I stopped counting and decided there was no way it was worth any where near that.
I'd have been better off with TWO KLRs! LOL
I bought a Super Tenere last fall and saved $1k on it. Not much. But, it let me afford a set of GiVis and a removable mount system that are
far cheaper than the boxy Yamaha luggage.
I'm trying to talk my gf into a Versys or something similar. Anyone on the list a have a 5'7" significant other that rides and can
recommend something?
