Was I the only one that was completely unaware that our American spec screwdrivers don't exactly fit Japanese Philips screws ? One example of why this is relevant is the fact that most of us long term owners have stripped the fasteners holding the front brake fluid reservoir cover and replaced them with Allen heads. The latest Motorcycle Consumer News has an article that explains and illustrates the difference in the driving flanges. I ordered a set of "correct" JIS here http://www.ikaswebshop.com/hojisscset4d.html Bogdan, who learns something new everyday wether he wants to or not and .prefers screwdriver to fastener correctness to that of the political variety.

I am also ordering a set. As the artical says, "regular" Philips were designed to SLIP under torque, they were designed to be used with automated drivers, and SLIP when tight. The ones listed are squared off inside and GRAB.

I only learned about this a couple months ago. I've been riding for 20 years, and have owned a bunch of older Japanese cars, so I'm surprised I had never heard about them until recently. I also ordered myself a set of JIS screwdrivers. They seem to fit things like the master cylinder screws better. Ryan Phoenix Bogdan Swider wrote:

When I first learned about JASO screws and acrewdrivers, I thought I didn't need them because I already had some Pozidriv bits. Turns out I didn't know enough, or worse, thought I knew more than I really did. ://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_screw_drives I made a mental note some time ago to pick up some JASO screwdrivers, but the ink must have come out in the wash.

Fred, Scandinavian "dangly bits" quickly and thoroughly retract internally in cold situations. In fact if someone in that situation and has to pee he has to blow hard on a thumb then be prepared to grasp the shy thing with the other hand before it realizes it's bring tricked. It takes practice. Staying warm in Wisconsin, Lee [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
