useful fastner info for the klr

I have first experience with these. I worked on the General Dynamics EFV when it was at Hodges Transportation.
They do work! They will hold torque and not allow and backing off of the bolt. The only few downsides.
1. Expensive
2. Brittle, after a few uses they would start breaking. I saw the most wear and breakage of them from removing and installing road wheels.
3. Unnecessary for small and light applications.
I think the cheaper (remember... KLR!) thing to do would be to use loctite 242 and if you are stilled worried get a substance called "Torque Stripe"
Placed that on the head of the fastener and to the component. All you need to do is visually check and see of the "stripe" is broken. That will tell you if you have movement.

Perhaps some of you here have used Nord-Lock products.
Today was the first time I have seen this product video, though I have dismantled something in the past and thought the washers 'odd'.
Your comments would be helpful.

My inital thought:
Several place that you could use this might also require using a longer bolt.
