List, I have been enjoying the previous discussions/problems/suggestions of riding where there are bears. Further discussions off line offer several suggestions of riding your KLR where there is bears-a-plenty, and what to do to 'protect' yourself beyond bells, spray, and shooting your riding partner in the knee with a .22. This includes the bear spray, (watch the wind direction) typical guide guns =1895 Marlin in .45/70, 12g. Shotguns with slugs, .44 mag pistol. All these have some very positive features as well as some problems. I was leaning towards the shotgun (I'm told by one of my friends living in Anchorage, Alaska, Conservation Agents use this) until, I found this video. Wa-lah. The search is ended.
