I'm quite happy with the Gripsters but then thirty years ago I rode 650 Triumphs on these same roads and trails using Dunlop K70s and they had a milder tread pattern than Gripsters. I haven't had a knobby for years so I don't know what I would want. I was surprised that the two guys I rode with last weekend would ride 80 - 90MPH on the highway for 100 mile stretches on full, non-DOT approved knobbies and low air pressure. I also use at least 20 lbs in the front and 25 or more in the rear because of frequent highway jaunts. If I did need knobbies, I would probably ask Fred for advice and go with what he recommended.
