break pads -- new tire

Looking for the best place to buy break pads for 07 KLR Fred's seems high. Another place had them for nearly 1/3 the price of Fred's but only for older models. After 22K they are almost paper thin. Gotta do something soon. Got the Shrinko tire mounted on the rear. It was tough. Gave up and took it to the shop and let them use their machine to put it on. Nevertheless, I'm well satisfied with this tire. It looks good, has lots of tread (about 3/4 in), seems to drive well and not too expensive. [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

I got mine from Fred. Great service and quality parts, and I thought the price was competitive for name brand stuff. Kirk

I got a set of EBC sintered pads from Rocky Mountain for $35.00 per wheel. Do NOT get the organics, stick with sintered pads. -Jeff Khoury

I agree, sometimes Fred's a little higher (as in $2-$5 more) but we must remember Fred's dedication to KLR owners. Be they customers or not, he's always willing to help out. And the man knows KLR's better than anyone... ________________________________ From: Kirk Braunius To: Robert Waters Cc: DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com Sent: Wednesday, June 20, 2012 12:30 PM Subject: Re: [DSN_KLR650] break pads -- new tire I got mine from Fred. Those are for a KLX650, not a KLR650. As far as I know, they won't fit... ________________________________ From: Robert Waters To: Jeff Khoury Cc: DSN KLR650 DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com> Sent: Wednesday, June 20, 2012 1:01 PM Subject: Re: [DSN_KLR650] break pads -- new tire What is wrong with these? http://motorcycle-parts.d2moto.com/search?asug=&view=grid&w=klx650+brake+pads

gps tracker for tracking a stolen bike.

Awhile ago there was talk about tracking a stolen bike. I saw this today, it's a GPS tracker for bicycles that could be used on a motorcycle. It looks like they are using a bicycle headset cap as the housing but surely this could be adapted to fit on a motorcycle. It uses a cellular SIM card to transmit data. It's relatively cheap at $153 and it says it has free online tracking. http://www.integratedtrackers.com/GPSTrack/Products.jsp?target_item=BTrack14.jsp [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

I never go cheap on brake pads. The EBC HH Sintered pads, Galfer Black or stock pads work well. I have no experience with SBS. Avoid the EBC organic pads, I hate the feel and on the KLR my opinion is that they're dangerous. -Jeff Khoury
