Have ya noticed while the US post office has "If it fits it ships", A good size box for $5.+
Yet when you order something, that fits in your pocket and weighs less then 1/4 pound they charge $9. for shipping.
If I was in there store I would take up MORE of there time, then a quick order over the phone or on line.

Amen. Ordered a map from Happy trails. I had commented to them that it seem high to charge $11 for FedEx. They said to specify USPS and it would be a couple bucks. So I ordered and specified USPS. My order was shipped USPS ($1.99) but I was charged $11+ for shipping. When I complained I was charged $11+ again. Finally a week later and numerous emails and phone calls I got the Fedex refunded. I am very wary of HT now.

Someone has to pack the box that gets shipped to you, there are supplies to
buy, space to rent, etc. so a company can't cover its cost if it just
charges what the shipper charges. So I expect to pay a bit of a premium
over whatever (for example) the post office charges for postage.

I run a modulator from Signal Dynamics, no change in modulation rate, regardless of voltage. Given that 140 cycles per minute is required by the FMVSS why not return yours as defective and buy a different brand?

I don't, unless I've already been told what the premium is. If I don't
see a shipping price before finalizing the order, I don't buy it.
Period. No exceptions. Even if it is something I cannot buy anywhere
else, I find out the shipping and handling costs before ordering - or I
don't order it.
In our business, we are slapped with things like "Fuel Surcharges" when
the invoice arrives. Of course, we knew nothing about a "fuel surcharge"
when we placed the order.
