I have a quick question that I hope someone will be able to help me with. Is there some secret trick to removing the front sprocket? I've checked in the service manuals and they refered to older style of sprocket. Am I missing something or do I need to just get after it and reef on it? Hope that everyone had a blast on the 4th! Thanks everyone for informing me of the sprocket situation and thanks Fred for hooking me up with the sprockets. By the way, I live in Lewiston, ID if there's any other local folk around that want to ride. Brian Y2KLR

Removing front sprocket. Hmmmmmmmmm. ;-). I stand on the right side of the bike. Put my foot on the break. Lean over the seat with socket, short extension and breaker bar. Attach. Pull. Bingo. for me at least. -- Best Regards & Happy Trails Andy Chesley @ 57 and ticking in Jennings in SW Louisiana Y2KLR650 @ 7+K sMiles 97 R11RA (Amiga) @ 16+K sMiles So Many Roads, So Little Time http://members.deltech.net/aches/

Hello List: My favorite garage mechanic is doing some winter work on my bike that I'm not capable or interested in doing.  While he was at it, and since I only ride around town or mostly in the dirt, I asked him to install a 14 tooth sprocket on the front.  He hasn't been able to locate one.  I've tried to find a 14 tooth sprocket somewhere on the web and haven't had much luck either.   Arrowhead has 15 and 16, but no 14s.  Does anybody know where I can order one?  I've gone through the archives and haven't had much luck there either. As always, your help is greatly appreciated.   Waiting in NE for spring (and a 14 tooth front sprocket). Bob L.

As far as i can tell the front sprocket for an EL250 Eliminator / GPX250R / ZZR250 will fit. I've a catalogue for a UK mail order company (www.MandP.com) and they list the same 'base' part number as the KLR but with 14teeth. HTH Andy - Southampton, UK A1 ----------

The PBI 16T sprocket for my A14 has a side with a larger shoulder and a side with a smaller shoulder. The larger shoulder goes against the engine, right? RM

I ordered 14 and 16 tooth sprockets from sprocket specialists on Tuesday morning and I received them this afternoon. Quick response and only $31.85 for both including shipping. David Wilhite dnmwilhite@... 01' KLR 650 84' Subaruvanagon
