Snap on used to sell a tool for this exact issue. It was a flexible shaft with a rigid back half, a set of stiff tines that can be opened and closed via a thumb trigger. I had one years ago. I dropped a nut down a carb in a 308 Ferrari of a customer once. It took me 45 min laying on the rear fender and a lot of the engine with a foam pad to fish that put. Sure beat a top end job on that car. Camper. What engine truck and year. You may have heated it to the point it went into a limp home mode. Some ECUs are set up to keep damage from close to full over heat down by severely limiting power.

foot peg advice needed
