I just won a lot of the two most pristine KLR650 engines at the Barstow US Marine Depot.
I want to keep one as a spare.
If someone wants the other; shoot me an offer.
I drove all the way out there to check them out before I bid.
I got the BEST 2 out of the whole auction. The side cases are
not even boot scratched! I turned them over and looked in the
intake and exhaust ports and they must have less than 1000 miles
on them from my figuring.

these are mid year models with starters; no carbs
I believe I got the best lot of 2 out of the entire auction of around
16 total ie 8 lots...there were two brand new ones that looked like they sat out in the desert for years but I didn't go for those.

J#3,
Congratulations. I've been following that auction in a thread on another
forum. It looked like a crap shoot from the pictures. Really swell you
got to see them in person.

+1 on the congrats, Jeffrey.
Are any of those shrink wrapped planes that sit around in Mojave selling
for $100 or so?
Mike --> missing the desert southwest after 11 months of not being
there. ...I wonder if my KLR will start? That's IF I even get out there
in April. This year.. maybe not.

It is amazing what govtliquidators auctions off for our military. I did see some jets and boats for sale at the govtliquidators website.
Some great deals can be had but I wouldn't call the website user friendly. Shipping a jet is pretty tough too.

I did see some jets for auction at other bases.
Some are just for lawn ornaments or amusement parks.
Some can be refurbished and flown.
For flatbed trucking them, you have to take the wings and
tail off. They take the Sidewinder missiles and
magnesium flares off before you get them.
I could use some magnesium flares to discipline cagers
on the 405 and 101 fwys. There aren't many hard points
for mounting weapons systems on a klr.

I have seen a site, and I can't find it right now, something like Salvex
or ?? They had
(2) British Harrier Jump Jets for sale and one was purchased by a guy in
the US.
Also have seen tons of cool stuff, 600' tanker, working, in Sri Lanka,
5Millions
bottles of water about to expire? How does water expire? Also stuff like
200tons of rice in India that had slight water damage,
Yahoo found it
http://www.salvex.com/index.cfm
I go there when
they send me an email as I was looking for a ocean going boat, not
a yacht but something that could go a long way !
