low cost steel footpegs?
Back when I had my '97 KLR I found some metal foot pegs from another bike that bolted right on and were cheap. I can't recall what make/model that was. Anyone know of something that would work that would be a lot less $$$ than say a set of IMS pegs at $100 [CDN]?

Suzuki DR-650 pegs fit perfectly. I even have the part numbers:
(2) Springs 09448-15008
(1) Right footpeg 43550-44B10-019
(1) Left footpeg 43560-44B10-019
I got mine from Ron Ayers online 5 years ago and they were $38 total.

Are there comparably priced foot pegs with the 1/2" off-set out there?
Thanks,
Jim

Did it ever occur to you that perhaps its not just the footpegs that are better on the DR?

low cost steel footpegs?
When I bought my last DS bike in '97 I looked at the DR650 and bought a KLR650. When I went DS bike shopping again recently the DR650 was on my list of bikes to check out and I bought another KLR650. When I am out riding I see KLRs everywhere, but not many DR650's.
I'll take the DR foot pegs and happily ride my KLR with them.

low cost steel footpegs?
I have seen after market pegs with a 1/2" set back to alleviate shifter clearance problems. Are there any low cost replacements such as the ones below that have this 1/2" set back?
Thanks,
Jim

Moose makes two models of footpegs for the KLR that have the 1/2 setback. Other than that, I don t know of any other footpegs made for the KLR with an offset.

If dirtbag cheap like myself, you don't need offset pegs to adjust boot clearance. You can easily pull the shifter off its splined shaft and move it up or down one notch. Then fine tune by wrapping pvc tape around the shifter lever where your boot engages to adjust the contact point. Clear as mud? My black electrical tape wrap has survived several tens of thousands of miles without failure (except aesthetic).
It goes without saying that you might need to mess with it a bit: change shifter position on splined shaft, then wrap with tape, then test with a variety of boots, then repeat until satisfied.
Hope that helps.
