"the age old windshield question"

Hello from BC,
Lookingg to get a taller than stock windshiled for my 2001 KLR.
Removed the stocker as it directed wind and air staright at my helmet / face.
There are many windshield options online for various sizes and shapes.
Could some of you please share some experiences and recommendations with taller windshields.
Few that cought my eye are the MRA (one size +5.35"), Dual Star (one size +4")and 7Jurock (many + sizes)...
The opinions on all the forums I looked at are very confusing to say the least...
My objective is to minimize wind in the face area (I am 5'8" sitting on dual platform corbin seat).
Thanks!
Best,
Shlomo

Count me in on this windshield question as well - I'm 6-0 and I sometimes
lean to the side to avoid the turbulence the stock windshield puts in my
face! I may just remove it.
I was thinking of mocking up some different heights to see what works. I'd
hate to buy a different one and find I have a similar problem.

Clearview is the windshield of choice and has been making them longer than all of the rest. I sell more +9 and +11 models but Clearview also makes them in a +7 .

Kawasaki used to make a taller windshield that was nice and around +4 over the stock screen. Kawasaki has decided they were not selling enough of these and has discontinued them.
There is a big difference between the different windshields out there, so I d recommend trying out one on your bike or riding someone else s bike to see how the wind suites you. My personal preference is to be able to look over the top an inch or so. I like to be able to see the road about 50 -100 without looking through the windshield. Others rather look through the windshield all the time but YMMV.

I liked the Spitfire Slipstreamer bar mounted windshield. Easy to remove (no tools required for removal) and good, adjustable coverage. Of course I just dropped a KLR tank on it in the garage the other day and it broke in half. So now, I just have the mounting hardware.

[dsn_klr650] state farm insurance problems with klr

I have progressive on both bikes. Full coverage and no medical. I had an
accident last year. I broke my leg. The KLR was not really hurt. The adjuster
came to my house. Checked out the bike and my riding gear. I have $500.00
deductible and when he left he gave me a check for $1600.00. The bike was not
totaled. He did total my helmet (ARAI XD), my riding pants (mom fixed them) and
the boots they cut off.. They would not pay for the jeans they cutoff. I
replaced my handlebars and straightened everything else out. It had a scratch
on it and they total all helmets (I still use it). My rates did not go up this
year. I pay around $350.00 a year, for both bikes. It is worth it to me. I
have great medical at work (only cost me $25.00). I spent 6 days in the
hospital and had a rod fixation on my right leg. I did lose about $10,000 in
wages (the disability pay sucks). I now have an accident plan that pays me if I
am out of work for sickness or injury. What sucks is I bought the plan two days
before the accident, but it did not start until 3 weeks after the accident. Oh
well.

All of you folks stating that your insurance company is great, please clarify if
you mean you're getting a great rate or if you've made a claim and received
great service.
Getting cheap insurance doesn't do me any good if they give you hassles and/or
never pay a claim.
I had homeowners, boat, two cars and life insurance with State Farm.
They are awesome. Someone ran a red and t-boned my wife... State Farm was there.
Someone busted into my truck and stole a buncha crap... Like a good neighbor,
yep, they did me right and paid up no problem.
I called to get my HD insured, and my agent gave me an outrageously expensive
quote. I asked why and he said "We have your life insurance, dude. They know
that if you get in an accident on the bike, they will most likely have to pay
out on the life policy."
Or some such nonsense. The agent may or may not have said "dude."
PIP varies state to state. In Texas, they HAVE to offer it. You automatically
get it if you don't sign a waiver explicitly stating you refuse it. I do believe
it's a min amount of $1000 or so. I opted for $3000, the same amount as my
medical insurance deductible.
And Progressive has paid up twice, never any issues, without raising my rates.
