<><><><><><> <><><><><><> sbartindale, I've been using a sintered brass filter on my 2003 KLR650 since 2004 and for about 27,000 smiles. I haven't had any problems with it but did change it last spring when I did the 685 kit on the bike. Martin Earl tried to use one about the same time I started and I don't think he even made it home, about 250 miles, without fuel supply issues. I've heard of numerous other KLR owners that have had issues using a fuel filter. I've also heard an equal number of fuel filter users say no problem. Maybe the biggest caution is to make sure the fuel system is in good condition when you begin using the filter and making sure it is installed in a vertical feed position. I've heard a horizontal position causes issues with head pressure and having to go to reserve much earlier than without the filter installed. I put one of those small clear plastic filters on my bike. The one that has what looks like a brass colored stone inside. At first it worked OK, but after about 3,000 miles I started having starvation problems when I my fuel was low. Switching to reserve didn't help. I removed the filter and all is fine again.
