easy fork oil change specs...

For a 2001 KLR650 (A15) and probably through 2007, the recommended levels and specifications are:
Changing oil: 355mL
Disassembly and completely dry: 420 +/- 4mL
Oil rating: Kayaba G-10
Viscosity: SAE 10W20
Fork oil Level: 190 +/- 2mm below the top end of the inner tube
I just put back in what came out each time. I allowed for/compensated for the little TransX I added to one fork and the amount left in the bucket. I didn't feel like draining forks for hours or draining the bucket for hours. However, using and air compressor does help to purge the old fluid quickly.
I have never taken apart the fork. Obviously each time I didn't let the forks drain completely. But, I figure it is more important to keep half decent fluid in the forks.
I have been told that despite being a pretty much sealed system, forks get very dirty inside. So, the least you can do is change your fork oil every 15k miles.
