Should have know you would find us here, forget to let you know about it via FB and FC.
Another option , but I don't know about availability in the US is the Trellborg tyres developed for the Swedish Military. I run them as a rear on the KLR250 and KLR600 and with a TKC80 front seem to handle most of the light trails in the UK.
They are good for road use as well. I think it they are now made by Czech company Mitas, but the Army tire can be studded and stays pliable to minus 16C which has been handy this winter
