My GPS kept turning off at highway speeds, but works fine at low power or on batteries alone. This got me wondering if I was getting bad power from the bike. Threw the multi-meter on the battery leads and sure enough, at idle voltage is 15v. During run-up to 4k rpm, the voltage crept up to ~16.5~17v. I stroked out the cash for a new regulator, but before I plugged it in, I performed the resistance test as described in the manual. The original regulator had the exact same readings as the new.
So, have you had experience with a similar problem? The manual goes on to describe testing the stator coil circuit, but I was hoping I really didn't have to go there ($$$).
It's an '03 A17 with 42k miles.

I could put it to some good use. I don't know about living up to it's past adventures, but it will definitely get to ride almost daily. Let me know how you want the payment (paypal, money order, cash, etc.). Scott [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
