master link clip

I think a lot of people do it that way (the wrong way). It is hard to describe (in a email especially) the proper way to put a clip onto a master link. Someone needs to make a video of it being slid on, as you describe. That is damaging the clip. You need to lay the clip against the side plate with one of the pins between the legs of the clip. Practically all of the clip will be laying flat against the side plate. Then slide the clip so that the tips of the two legs are starting into the groove of the other pin. Then slide it the rest of the way to force the tips of the legs to spread apart while in the groove and the clip to move to its final position. This will keep the clip from being damaged. I hope this makes sense. When I get the clip on, going around the pin bends it out so it's sloppy. Do I squeeze it with needle nose to unbend it? Last clip fell off. Any cure? .
