Does anyone know how I can prevent black smoke getting all over the rear fender? Is normal for the bike to put out black smoke?

Mine doesn't put out black smoke. I suspect your KLR's air filter is clogged or over-oiled. That's what the little pipe-insert is in the tailpipe for. Did you by chance remove it to get rid of the "tweety" sound? If so, black smoke is normal-ish. Or your jetting is wrong. -----Original Message----- From: DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com [mailto:DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com] On Behalf Of truckinman34 Does anyone know how I can prevent black smoke getting all over the rear fender? I have the worlds fastest KLR 303 MPH! Look in the groups 'Files' section subfolder 'GPS Files' for proof. Nice trip report BTW. Walt

Mine doesn't smoke either, but it still leaves black soot on the fender. Always has.
