A lot of guys who replace their mufflers with aftermarket ones will have a stock muffler to sell. The may not be "for sale", but if you make the inquiry, you can still buy one. I got one for 20 bucks.

I had to remove the seat and tank to get at one of the carb clamp screws. The ever wise(!) folks that assembled it placed a clamp so the screw was pointed away from any easily accessible location. Plus I read way too many warnings about damaging the choke cable and wanted to have the spare room to work. After a valve inspection, recall work verification, Thermo-bob installation and now carb work, I can pull the side panels, seat & tank in 3 or 4 minutes. Not a biggie. Speaking of bad smells: Sunday, I ran over an unknown something on a late night ride. It went *crunch* and moved the bike around very little. ????? I turned around and found the shattered remains of a long dead armadillo. It was just the hollowed-out shell of armor plating now scattered in many pieces all over the road where I'd finished it off. And the stench? Whoa! Way, way awful.... =O eddie 09' KLR650
