I am a proud owner of a Thermo-Bob and I'll try to explain it a bit
to you. I live in Northern Minnesota where it isn't known for balmy
weather. I contantly had trouble with the engine not getting up to
operating temperature. If you don't think this is a problem, look
inside a car engine that has been run without a thermostat. Lots of
sludge and gunk inside. If you live in a warmer climate, this may
not be as much of a problem for you, but up here it is.
As far as the price goes, I think it is a bargain. The quality of
the parts are first-rate, EVERYTHING you need to install it is
included (no trips to the auto parts store), and the mmachining done
by Eagle Mike is show quality. If this part was sold by the
aftermarket it would easily be in the 300 dollar range in my
opinion.
If I were to buy another KLR, the first thing I would install would
be the improved doohickey, followed next by the Thermo-Bob. I
realize times are tough, but I will put my name on the line and say
that you will get more for your money out of the Thermo-Bob than you
will pay for it, and I don't give recommendations lightly. Warm up
is very quick and the temperature remains stable. I honestly think
it's a must-have and a bargain at the current price.
