Here's a weird one, the rev counter on my 1988 Tengai keeps jumping up
to the red line and back down again totally randomly! it does not
matter if the engine is just idling at 12 hundred revs the needle keeps
flicking up and down. Any ideas? thanks Chris

Mike,
At wide open throttle what happens when you close the throttle just a
little bit. Does the engine pick up rpms, hesitate or no change for a
bit?
Usually when you play with jetting on a CV carb you should start at the
main jet at wide open throttle. Then mess with the needle jet at mid
range and finally the pilot jet for idle and just off idle.
Best,
Jeff
