I have a 2003 KLR650. It does not decelerate when I let off or twist thethrottle to decelerate when shifting gears. I have taken the carb apart and cleaned it (looked pretty good, adjusted the throttle cables, checked for vacum leaks, but it still does it. Seems to stay 'reved" up when shifting. Is there someone out there that has seen this? Is there a fix? Randy

What's your idle speed? I've seen that happening when I had my idle set too fast -- or had my choke (idle enricher actually) engaged and the idle had sped up. On my KLR, at least, after the bike has been running for 15 seconds or so I can just slowly close the choke and head out.

The KLR650 has two throttle cables, one to open and the other to close in tandem with the spring. If you can't pull the rpms down with the throttle I would be checking the return cable. Alan Henderson A13 Iowa randy_turner66 wrote:
