without riding the bike for some time. That s kinda how I see it based on information I read long ago; not exactly, but the bottom line is the same. In my experience you can get the bike to high enough temperature if you idle it long enough. But..... for a bike with a carburetor idling does not efficiently burn the fuel/air mixture. Thus .. not fully burned gases mess up your oil ,exhaust system and who knows what else. I believe you have to take the bike on a ride of ten miles to make sure bad stuff doesn t collect and do harm. I make a point to take such a ride at least once a month in the winter. If I m out of town and can t do that I put in Stabil which has worked fine for me. I made a mistake in my previous message. I am wondering if a 92 KLR650 fuel tank will fit on the 88 KLR 650. Any idea? Kawasaki is giving me no help on this one.

That should give you 21 years of tanks for consideration.
