If I want to increase low end torque but want to maintain high end speeds of
at least 75 MPH which sprocket configuration should I go with? I was also
told that adding an after-market clutch kit would increase performance. Any
thoughts?

Add 2 teeth to the rear, and run a 110 link chain. that'll drop you a
little bit and put you at the back of the swingarm with the adjusters.

My thought is some ordered 1 too many clutch kits and wants to sell
you one. I don't think you can overheat the clutch on a stock KLR,
unless you're practicing drag starts at pomona in the summer with 10w-
30 car oil in it.

Bought an A15 off e-bay a week ago an really like it. Corbin
seat,Scottoiler,bigger front brake,givi carrier,2500 miles,Gripster
rear tire and ss brake lines. Does anyone know how to fill the oiler.
All this talk about the doohickey and seizing up motors is making me
scittzo. Is there a way to fix it? If there is I'm going to take the
bull by the horns and fix it . Sounds like I've got alot more to do
to this bike to get it the way I want it,lower it,rework the
suspension,higher windsheild,did I forget anything? Eventually I'd
like to see a bunch of the world on this beast, anybody want to come
along? Tom in No.Calif.

Don't know about the world, but if you want to see some of California - I'd
like to join ya.
I'm in San Jose, the Silly Con valley.

I`m working my ass off to buy a KLR 650. I`ve always been in love with this bike but been caught up with the street scene. I made up my mind I wanna a bike than can go and do anything anywhere. I no longer care about doing a 150 mph. Anyway I like reading these post. I`ve learned alot. thx

You could download GearCalc from
http://www.IronJungle.Com and it
would tell you how changing sprockets will effect your RPMs at
75MPH. It will not calculate torque values.
The same site has a program called DynoCalc that would compute HP and
torque, but it requires you to have the optional sprockets installed.
I guess there is no perfect world...
