Somehow the bolts became loose on my aftermarket slip-on. Anyway the can melted the side plastic piece and it looks pretty bad. Anyone with a similar experience and knows how to remove this burnt on plastic? Robert

Have you considered warming it up again and wiping with coarse cloth like a clean old potato bag? Can't hurt the situation. DC robert wrote:

The burnt plastic is polypropylene, for which there are no solvents that you would want to mess with. If you leave it alone, it will eventually melt and burn off to nothing but a stain, but it takes a while and it smells! I'd suggest running the bike to soften the plastic (or heat it with a Bernzomatic torch) and use a copper or brass brush or "Brillo" type pad - which is available in the kitchen cleaner section of many stores and use that to wipe the rest of it off.

10 000 km Synthetic oil since 3000 km Magentic drain plug Stainless oil filter Aftermaket Jardine muffler Jet kit and mods done to carb. Runs perfectly. Same as it did as new. Knock off K & N air filter Three 1" holes drilled into dirty side of air box Checked valve clearances at 5000 km they were at the top of the spec. Brand new Avon Distanza rear tire. Spare distanza for rear with 5000 km of life left in it. Stock front tire. Aluminum saddle boxes with bags. Tank bags, extra tubes, $60 worth of patches, tire irons axle wrench. Rear sprocket is one tooth smaller front is one tooth bigger. Bike cruises at 120 km/hr around 45-4600 RPM. 50 Mpg. 130 km/hr 48-4900 RPM 45 Mpg. $56 of gas will get you around 800 km. Mods done to the seat. It is far more comfortable not quite as perfect looking as stock. Water proof "Fammz" pants and "Himalaya" jacket Both black with grey and silver accents. Helmet. I am 5'11 160 lbs. A person 6'0" could easyly wear the gear. I'm in Jasper Alberta. Fly to Edmonton ride the bus to Jasper pick the bike up and ride to Alaska. Nothing is broken or needs to be fixed.
