Mine gave me the same problem a couple years back during the middle
of summer and I was using it everyday at that time. It ended up
being my fault.
I had over oiled the air filter.
I had been riding in more dusty conditions than usual which would
require more frequent cleaning of the air filter which I did'nt think
of at that time.
I cleaned the filter and made sure I did a better job of getting
the excess oil squeezed out. This helped alot but it still was'nt
running right. I was in a rush so I did a very quick disassemble and
cleaning of the carb. Nothing changed.
I disassembled it a 2nd time. Much more slowly and careful. The
first time I cleaned it I knew from earlier experiance that there
is a diaphram, spring, and a very large hole under the choke plate
and assumed that it would be impossible for that to be causing me my
problems, so I never took that apart.
This time I did. I found a thick yellow syrup like substance that
I could'nt explain. My filter oil is red, I use fresh gas from the
local station, and I use CRC cleaner which is clear and evaporates.
Anyways, I put it back together and it ran perfectly and I never
had to touch it again.
