Can someone direct me to a post with a discussion of the 2008 doohickey and if it has been improved in the eyes of riders rather than just the eyes of Kawi?

2008 doohickey is a machined part and not prone to fail. However there are rumors about the spring still being weak. Not sure of the validity, but if your paranoid, replace it. Although I haven't looked inside the 2008 vs. a 2006 but I did go to the Kawasaki website to look at the parts diagrams there for each year. In both cases and including the 2007, the doohickey is part #13168. So, it kind of looks like there is no change but I defer to those who have actually done the hands-on inspection. Don R100, A6F

That's why you shouldn't use the five digit Reference number as a part number. Kawasaki part numbers are usually a five digit - four digit number. I bet if you get the whole part number it is going to be different since they are different parts. Most sites you can click on the five digit reference number and it will take you to the actual part number. There are many differences between the 2008 Doohickey and the Eagle Lever. The 2008 is an improvement over the 2007 but it is not perfect. The Eagle Lever will fit more precisely on the shaft and the adjustment slot has been reindexed to have more useful life over the 2008 lever. Maybe the parts diagrams / listings that are available on Kawasaki's website aren't as good as what the dealer has. My very basic part number check came up with the same doohickey (lever) item number #13168A for both the 2008, as well as, for my 2006. Both years listed the same part number too and that was #13168-1238. Again, I only had those numbers to go by and from that, I assumed that there was no change between the years.
