This might be long...I start by "chaining " the tank after removing the petcock and making a waterproof plug for the hole. Iuse about a six foot piece of lightweight chain, sloshed and tumbled by hand for removing loose scale. I make a plastic cap to replace the gas cap, and drill it to accept a 3/8 non galvinized threaded rod.I secure the rod and bend to suspend inside the tank, not touching the sides. I mix up about 5 gallons or more depending on the tank size, about 3/4 cup to one cup Arm and Hammer "washing soda" not baking soda, not baking powder. I fill the tank with this mixture and the positive electrode goes on the threaded rod, and the negative goes on an unpainted section of the tank. I usually use maybe 10 amps, but you can adjust to your needs like Jeff had mentioned. I check the process about two or three times a day. Check by unplugging the charger, removing the pos lead and threaded rod, then total clean with scraper, wire brush, untill bare metal is showing. Peer in the tank and the rust will start to disappear aftre a couple days. Wher there was rust , is now a black patch, where no rust has etched , it will be bright steel. The worst one ever took five to six full days. Average is about two days. Flush the tank with fresh water several times, blow out as much water as you can with air, then I set up a hair dryer and run it into the fill hole for 12 - 24 hours. The process with the charger should not be done inside!!!!!! This process involving electricity and water should be treated with the utmost respect !!! BUT..... This voodoo also releases Hydrogen from the water molecules, and this also deserves respect. Hydrogen is an extreemly flamable gas(Hindenberg) No smoking, and use outside only. I have done at least a dozen tanks since learning of this process, and they all have come out SWEET ! No need for Kream. Good luck, and be careful. A mistake could loose your working area, or your life, or both. Wayne(rice)Burner 1986 Kl 600 6k miles www.localmotionfun.com [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

Just curious about what you make the plastic cap from. An empty plastic bottle of some sort? I have a bunch of different sized ones, some have been turned down on the lathe to fit, but one is made from a rattle can cover and a couple nuts. I chnge the threaded rod to fit the contour of the tank on some. I like to have the electrode at least six inches inside the tank full of solution. help! pirelli mt21 tire question

Kevin The standard tire for the KLR650 is a 130/80-17. To my knowledge the Pirelli MT21 does not come in that size. The 130/90-17 will work just fine. I've used them on the KLR. It just has a higher aspect ration which will in effect give you a slightly higher gearing. Doug in NC ---------- At 08:29 AM 3/20/2008, you wrote:
