Anybody know if he is alright? He built a pretty amazing bike. One has
to question why somebody would think it was safe to do a burn out on
bike that can do 0 to 60 in under one second. Just a helmet would have
helped. I imagine he had probably gotten away with this in the past.
Hope he is alright. Alan Henderson A13 Iowa

After a little more investigation I found this site:

Part of the problem was that he is the engineer of the bike, not the
regular rider, so most likely had no idea just how fast that thing could
accelerate or even how to handle it. More so then all the mommies on the
list screaming "wear your gear!", don't get yourself in over your head,
either with a motorcycle that's too big and powerful for you, or a
situation in which you have no experience.
Z -> slow bikes fast

I think your right. He had little idea of how to handle the bike. And
one little bottle of soapy water is not enough for a drag tire
you need a gallon of water minimum. and a constant flow would help.
What happened was the water dried up and the tire did what it was
supposed to.... it hooked up and off he went.

If you listen carefully to the part where the guy is lying on the
ground, talking with a bystander, he claims that the throttle stuck
open and that that's why he wasn't able to stop. At least, that's
what it sounded like to me...
Glad he's OK!

irc tire mounting backwards
Posted: Thu Oct 04, 2007 6:11 pm
by yeah, right
I'm having my IRC 110 put on front tire of my 94 KLR650 this weekend.
I'm going with all the advise I've read about mounting it backwards. I
guess I'm fishing for anyone who would advise not to mount this tire
backwards. Any advice would be appreciated. I've had this cycle for 18
months now and all I can say is I love this bike. Thanks, Purskil.

I often wondered why the standard rotation
of a MC throttle grip is toward the rider, not towards the front.
All the best crash videos on youtube feature an in experienced
rider hanging on to the throttle as the bike accelerates under them.
Hanging on = Full throttle.
