Forget the foams, gels and other gukky things that you could pour into your bars. Go to your local gun store and get 7 1/2 grade lead shot and pour it into the left side of your bars till the bars are full. Tilt your bike as you do it. The balls find there own way in (they roll...they are round like BB's) They don't have to be compressed. If your bike is anything like mine (A16 '02) you will get an AMAZING improvement in vibration dampening for about $3.00. If you live near Burlington, Ontario I have lots to give away. I had to buy the minimum size of 25 pounds :( Hmmm....maybe I could take up hunting. Martin in Canada

Last year I put some 50 cal. muzzle loader lead balls into my handle bars and they helped with the vibration. This year I removed the lead balls when I installed the Tusk handguards and wind deflectors made from a 5 gal. plastic oil pail. Lead is real heavy and the KLR is already top heavy. I also intalled the anti-vibration mirror mounts (the only chrome parts on my bike) from JC Whitney. This combination of mods to the handlebar seems to have really helped with the vibration on my bike. No more throttle hand numbness. The mirrors are actually useable now and have a better view angle because they are about an inch higher. I suspect that my homemade wind guards have something to do with the reduced vibration at highway speeds because they are considerably larger than the OEM guards and so have a larger flat plate aerodynamic drag that exerts a vibration absorbing force on the bar ends at speed. They are sure more effective than the OEMs and in my humble opinion better looking. You can see pics of them at this link http://f1.pg.photos.yahoo.com/kelpo2001 Richard Korpela A15 Chapleau, ON

Has anyone used barsnake liquid or solid vibration dampener. I read here on the posts that 3M makes a similar product in a calk form but I had no joy finding it. How about you?

I filled the bars with window caulking, and the mirrors improved immensely. As a $3 solution it sure worked for me. The mirrors are as useful as possible, which was not the case before I tried it. DC locker1325 wrote:

Hello, I'd noticed recently increased vibration in my hands while riding my A12. After checking the usual suspects it turns out that the mounts at the very end of the bars for the acerbis (rally pro I think) guards took a bit of tightening up, even though they felt quite secure.I'm convinced that vibe level is down. So if you have the renthal/acerbis combo and vibes seem to be increasing, check those fasteners, especially the end plug doodads......cosmo

I recently filled my bars with buckshot, put weights on the ends, and got gel grips and now bars are smoother than grain though a ducks butt. A must do for all KLR bars --- cosmoboj wrote:

Its an old saying from my grandpa (God rest his soul) Grasin passes through a duck real quick, minutes in fact. So, the old story is that you would tie a peice of grain to a string, and toss it out into the pond. A duck eats it, poops it out, and then the next duck eats it, and poops it out, and so on, then you pull on the string and you take the ducks home for dinner (to eat, not as guests). I have never tried it, but Grandpa swore it was easier than using his 12ga shotgun (which is upstairs in my closet, 1902, remington, in mint condition. So theres your proof. --- mike torst wrote:

Hello again - I'm forever asking questions, but what is my best chance for cutting down on handlebar vibrations? I've got partial paralysis in my left index and middle fingers - no joke. What's best - filling the bars with birdshot? Inserting a snake? Someone suggested aluminum bars? Are there rubber mounts that help? I am also having a hard time finding gel grip gloves with more than a laughable, thin layer of gel. I want thick, cushy gel grips that will allow me to pound on my hand with a hammer. It's either that or I'll just have my hand amputated and get one of those claws - at least that way I can hold things without dropping them. Thanks for all the excellent advice and assistance - Ryan

What is the underlying reason that you have paralysis in your left hand? Do you have trouble with carpal tunnel syndrome? I had trouble with my right hand until I had carpal tunnel surgery. Alan Henderson A13 Iowa Ryan McNabb wrote:
