My friend had a KLR rebuild which never finished so he gave me his supertrapp IDS2. It is well beaten up, missing end cap, screws to hold disc are seized and stripped, needs to be repacked but to bent up to do properly ... just my style. I threw it on, the weight saving was nice, and gives more clearance with teh tire as when I would bottom out the stocker would hit the swingarm just slightly. The sound is awesome, good thing I always ride with ear plugs. I guess if I was able to do the packing it would quiet down some, I am going to order and end cap hoping it will quiet it up a little. As for performance. He says there was about 8 discs in it. Definately notice a huge decrease in back pressure, I actually have to use the brakes to slow down now. I used to just downshift and really need only the brakes to stop from 2nd. It will take me some time to get used to but doesnt really bother me. Highway riding it seems like I dont have to wring it out as much to go, I definately like it, not as lound on the highway as I thought. The negative ... where did my torque go? Im not a wheelie maniac but I get that urge every once and a while. tried my usual technique and it seems I lost alot of low end torque. I am hoping I am just rusty, but I its true the tweety stocker will go back on. Anyone else play with a supertrapp before? I have a Stage 2 dynojet kit installed, 148 main, foam air filter, snorkel removed and some holes in the airbox
