I picked up a 2006 with 4500 miles on it. It didn't come with an
owners manual and I can't seem to find anything on the internet with
instructions on what to do and volume required. Any ideas on where to
find this info? Thanks.

Any manual you want "Owners" or otherwise, should be available at the
Kawi dealer. Tell them your bike year, etc.

You've already received all the good answers (buy a Clymers service
manual, order a replacement owner's manual from a dealer), but I'll
just note that the right side of the engine case is embossed with
"2.5 l" next to the oil sight glass, indicating that you'll need
about 2.5 liters of oil on hand to fill the bike after you drain the
oil and change the filter.
There's some debate about how to properly measure the oil level. One
notable personality believes that there's a mild problem with
Kawasaki's recommendation; read www.multisurfacemotorcycling.com/klrpage/oilchange.htm> and make up
your own mind. I'll simply note that if you dump 2.5 liters of oil
in the bike the oil level is well above the top line on the sight glass.
Also, Jeff Saline has confirmed with Kawasaki that the oil change
interval recommended in the Owner's Manual is incorrect. The
recommendation should be 3,000 miles, not 6,000 miles as printed.
Additionally, used oil analysis by Jeff, myself, Rev. Martin, and
others indicates that the KLR is very hard on the oil's viscosity and
that even shorter oil change intervals could be recommended,
depending on the severity of use.
One (other) piece of unsolicited advice: Change *all* the fluids and
check the valves yourself. When buying a used bike I typically don't
trust that the previous owner has actually been as thorough as he
claims, and it's especially easy to fudge about the valves.
Enjoy!

If you look next to the oil sight glass on the engine case, it shows a
2.5L (for 2.5 liters). The dealer can get you the right filter but
many companies offer that size. 5-40W, 10-40W dino or syn oils will
work. Some change oil every 1500 miles and others go to 3000 miles -
depends on your preferences.
Personally, I'd buy the Clymer manual, if I was only going to buy one.

change throttle to left hand?

How about making the pistol and constitution stuff, NKLR and getting back to the Left Hand Throttle?
I'm still interested in the concept and wondering about the motivation.
Is the originator still available?
