Thought I would NKLR this one as it is more philosophy than anything else. It is very interesting to chase rabbits down the holes and we all have different rabbits that we chase. I'm thinking of ways to use the space shuttle tile technology on the underside of my tank to cut-down on the boiling. May work, may not; but it will be very interesting to see how far I get down the hole before needing to eat the mushrooms. So to all reading, keep up the interesting discussion on what-ifs and post photos whenever possible.. If nothing else, the results can be very entertaining. albatross lost in thoughts of cooler liquids

Can anyone tell me if Colorado's Alpine loop is suitable for a KLR. I've done the Copper Canyon, no problem, but some of the pictures of the Loop seem to show talus fields of rather large rocks. This concerns me. I am also interested in the trip from Ouray to Telluride as well. Thanks for you input. Rick

Hi Rick, I've done both. Alpine loop is mostly graded roads, I don't remember any rough stuff? There are side trails you can take that are rough, but the main route is pretty mild. From Ouray to Telluride is over Imogene Pass? Same story. Stick to the main trail and you'll be fine. Check and see if the pass is open with the locals, I reckon that one may be snowed in until July some years. Black Bear pass from the 550 north of Silverton to Telluride is a bit more challenging. Steep and scary, but a KLR will make it no problem. Helps if you can touch the ground from the saddle. Extra scenic, too. Thanks CA Stu
