central mississippi tech day - do the "do"

Post by Stephen H. King » Tue May 01, 2007 10:43 am

I am hosting a Tech Day at my house June 9th. I live in Clinton, MS just off the Natches Trace, close to Jackson. I am planning on starting at 9:00am and going until we get finished. We can grill some burgers or order pizza. I have plenty of room and a Harbor Freight jack and enough 4x6s to get the KLRs off the ground. We have at least one experienced "Do" tech willing to offer advice and probably two sets of specialty tools. I also have regular tools for any other adjustments or repairs that you may want to make. Even if you don't need to do the "Do", come on out and hang out with us. If we can get finished early enough, we can make take a ride up the trace. Email me for directions and phone number. Hello Everyone, This is the only announcement I'll be making for Black Hills Tech Day 2007. It'll be at my shop at 4543 Sturgis Road, Rapid City, South Dakota on Saturday 12 May 2007 from 8:30-4:00. Directions below. ****Please RSVP by Thursday 9 May if you plan on attending so I can make plans for food for lunch.**** Lunch will probably be burgers and hot dogs and chips. I'll also have a cooler with soda and water available and can put on coffee if that's of interest. Please plan any maintenance so you can complete it by 4 pm when the shop closes. Bring your own expendables like oil, filters, brake fluid, carb cleaner, tires, KLR valve shims, KLR doohickey and torsion spring, other parts etc. I'll have a reasonable amount of rags on hand. I can take care of oil, coolant and brake fluid disposal in an environmentally friendly manner. I can also get rid of motorcycle tires you change here for $2 each. I have a decent assortment of hand tools and plenty of compressed air. A bike lift and Harbor Freight tire changer is available on a first come first serve basis. Technical help is available for carb synching, electrickery, and other less than simple issues. Any and all bikes and riders are welcome. Kick tires, tell lies, wrench or help wrench as much or as little as you'd like. Don't expect someone else to work on your bike while you watch. : ) I'll have some chairs available for supervisors and relaxers. Directions: When heading out of Rapid towards Blackhawk it'll be about 2 1/2 miles from the corner of West Chicago and Sturgis Road. Address is 4543 Sturgis Road, Rapid City, South Dakota 57702. Phone: 605 787-4441 GPS: 44 07 55N 103 18 01W If on I90 heading west take exit 55, Deadwood Ave, turn left. At the second light turn right on Universal Drive. Go about 1 1/2 miles and at the stop sign turn left. Go about 1/4 mile. House is on the right just before the big field. If on I90 heading east take exit 51, Black Hawk Rd. Go about 3 1/4 miles. House is on the right before the big field. If coming from the south, 385 is a good ride in. Follow it to 16 (Mount Rushmore Road) and head for Rapid City. Take 16 into town and turn left on Omaha. Follow it past Deadwood Ave and take a right at the light at Sturgis Rd. Go about 2 1/2 miles, the house is on the left after a big field. If coming in from the northern hills try Nemo Road. When you get to town, turn left at the light at Sturgis Road. Go 2 1/2 miles. The house is on the left after the big field. Looking forward to seeing you at Black Hills Tech Day 2007.
