question about choke cable....

Post by Sam King » Sun Mar 25, 2007 3:07 pm

Is it possible to replace that plastic piece at the end of the choke cable that screws into the carb? I was forcing things again and snapped that piece. Tried to crazy glue it back together and then get the carb back in place but every time I tried to get the carb back in place the gizmo broke. If anyone has a fix idea let me know. Otherwise I either need a plastic piece or a new choke cable. If anyone has either piece that they want to sell let me know. Thanks! sam 2002 KLR650

tube failure

Post by eddiebmauri » Sun Mar 25, 2007 10:56 pm

I wont comment on what might have caused a fellow KLR rider's tube to fail and go flat. Thank goodness that he was not going 85 MPH when that happened. Anyway, I recently changed my tubes and tires (I put on some Gripsters) and I noticed that the dealer left the nut on the tube stem unscrewed, and (loose) up to here it was abutted to the tube valve stem cover. I asked why; and the dealer advised that if one locks the nut on the tubes's valve stem down to the rim; it can cause the tube's valve stem to fail. Go figure. And, yes, for all of you cynics out there, this is the same dealer who showed me a new rear brake pad, and compared it to mine, and explained why it was not necessary to change my rear brake pad. But wait, I am an idiot cynic, I did not believe my lying eyes, and I insisted that the dealer change a pad brake pad that did not need to be changed. After all, it is my money! And, then, the dealer saved me money by showing me why my fearing was making noise, and they showed me where I needed to lube the fearing mounts. But, being a cynic, I again did not believe my lying eyes, and common sense, and I insisted that they were crooks................ just kidding. Eddie Mauri (03' KLR - "la poderosa")
