I went to change my spark plug on my KLR 650 and the gap between plug
and engine is tight. My normal spark plug wrench did not fit. Where
can I get spark plug wrench to fit this bike??

Got a grinder? Or maybe try a junk yard for the genuine Kawi article.

I think I just use a standard 18mm deep socket... No foam insert, but
the plug doesn't seem to mind.

Hi, it's, the anti mechanic again. I am going to change the plug, and I am installing the spade fuse upgrade. (I'd had the bad headlight about a week ago, and upon (much) closer inspection, the bulb was in fact bad, needed a magnifying glass to see it, just enough to get it to short out I am sure, there was zero burning of the bulb like I saw when the stock bulb burned out.
Any sage advise would be helpfull. Taking off the tank, two bolts in the back, is there more in the front? And is there just the one tube where the gas comes out?
Is this like an oil question? What kind of plug do I buy? I'd like the best, most reliable? Is it pregapped? Whats the torque on the plug??
While I have the tank off is there anything else I should be looking for?
Lastly, am I going to f**k this up and destroy my klr?
I have the accessory fuse kit as well but lost the install instructions. I'd like to at least add a cigarette plug in for the air pump?
Are they all the same? Can you just buy one at Napa? Is wiring the accessory fuse kit too big a job for me?

The emptier the tank, the easier it is to remove. You'll need to
remove two tubes from the petcock, the gas line and the vacuum line.
The gas line might splash a little when you pull it off, so wear some
glasses and keep your mouth closed 8~)
Remove the two screws that hold the shrouds to the tank. Remove two
bolts at the back of the tank. If you have tubes coming out of the
back of the tank (CA models), remove them, too. Don't loose the
rubber pads that the bolts go through under the lip of the tank.
Then lift the tank up and to the rear. It rests on two round rubber
pucks that may drop off of the frame when you pluck off the tank.
Make sure they are there when you re-install the tank.
Take the electrical connection off the top of the plug and clean out
the cavern where the plug lives with compressed air. No compressor?
Try some tubing and lung power or a vacuum cleaner. Lots of little
rocks and sand get in there, you don't want them in your cylinder.
Your new plug will probably set to a gap that's within tolerance, but
it pays to check it against the owner's manual and set it up
correctly. There was recent thread on plug torque that you should
probably review. If you change spin-on oil filters on your cages,
it's like fitting a new filter--seat it, then turn it a little more
to make it tight but do not over tighten. Make sure the wrench is on
straight or you can damage the porcelain.
Note that it's possible (but painful) to change a plug without
removing the tank.
Good luck!
