I have found exactly TWO insurance companies that will insure me for less
than an arm and a leg here in CA. GMAC, and PSIC (McGraw). Everyone else
wants major bucks.

Wow!!! Of course, many factors go into insurance rates. Here in Kansas, State
Farm insures my KLR650-A15 for $200/annual. Full coverage, $250 deductible.
Am 50 years old, good driving record, insure my cars with them, no violations
past ten years, etc. I live in a city of 400,000 people.
Sounds like these insurors want to grab you by the short hairs!
Take this info to State Farm .... maybe they'll do you better.
Good luck! .... Roger Baugh

$75/mo???? Yikes! I pay less than that per year - liability only. Have you checked out Dairyland? Not sure if it's available in your neck of the woods.

Here in Colorado, I have American Family Ins., 2 cars and the house
on policy, the KLR costs $200 / year, would be double if
comp/collision was included.

You really can't compare insurance, even within a single state. My
insurance is more than a friend's who lives in the sticks and less than
another who lives in Dallas.
Just to stir things up a bit though I pay $41* a year for liability with
100/300/50 limits on my Concours. My license plates cost more. That's
with Nationwide.
*old geezer rate with all the discounts you can get and a clean driving
record.

I use Dairyland in Maine $90 a yr. for a KLR. They are not in Calif though,
for me Progressive wants $300 a yr. in CA, I'll try GEICO ,it's been a
couple of years since they dropped my coverage over some BS.

Mine is $530 a year for four bikes, three of which are totally
covered (if you trust insurers, that is) and the Daytona 500 is too
old to get good coverage without special insurance, but it has
liability on it.
This is cuz I've rarely been caught exceeding the speed limit or
causing accidents, and I get the geriatric (over 40, way over)
discount.
Personally, I've never seen any reason to actually think any
insurance is a good deal. What is the first thing they always try to
do when you present a claim?

Not sure on your situation, but I have found over the years that
sticking with one company seems to save me money, since they see me
as a long term customer, even thou I have moved all over, I just
change local agents to the company, they give me discounts for
multiple vehicles, renters insurance, safe driver, when my oldest
girl started driving, I also got discounted rate since she was a
honor roll student.
I have in the past called for other quotes, but never lower or enuff
to change plans. Also watch for low quotes that have stupidly high
deductables, no towing on policy ect ect.
I use Nationwide Insurance ( not an endorsment ), friends have called
and gotten quote higher than there current rates, but again driving
record might have alot to do with it.
So when it was time for the KLR to be added, my local agent was again
called, currently based in Illinois, and wish I could lower my
coverage since the bike is garaged in winter months, but he claims
that the policy will not allow that for some reason, so the full
coverage just stays on it, reckon im safe if I feel like plowing snow
up north with it.
Just my $.01
