It seems that the center of law enforcement corruption must be located at the south pole. As one travels through South America corrupt law enforcement is rampant. Enter Central America and it's prevalent but not as blatant. Moving northward into the States, it seems to be occasionally corrupt but in a more sophisticated way. More in the line of a shoddy business that is oriented toward making money (via traffic offenses and other fines) rather than dealing with with real crime issues. I'm not saying that this is the norm. It's more of an indicator that law enforcement is being used for purposes of enforcing laws that generate income rather than managing crime and criminals. We in Canada do have crooked cops as well. Maybe our smaller population limits the ability of law enforcement to indulge in revenue generating business as freely as in the south. I know that when I travel our highways, I'd have to be doing some very serious speed to be pulled over. If I go into the States however, I am well aware that as soon as I cross the border, leo has the meter running and is looking for cash. Some times it seems that a lot of law enforcement energy is directed at dealing with victimless crime such as apprehending sixteen year old pot smokers or arranging an overnight stay in the crow bar hotel for a hooker/john. Or watching to see if some one is doing ten over on a well maintained twenty mile straight stretch of black top. While they're busy with that ever important aspect of their duties, the real criminals are busy at work stealing your bike, breaking into your home, or murdering someone. Yeah but dealing with that type of crime don't keep them in nice patrol vehicles and designer offices??? I agree that every law enforcement action that is considered unfair should be challenged. If it's not, the disease will spread unabated. Even if the courts support the action of the unfair officer, at least, the issue was brought to light and publicized. Just my two cents. Don Larry W Menefee wrote: Is that Jud Jones Or Judge Jones? The first part was an atempt at humor, I know that all law officers are fair and just. They would never atempt to bring logic into the enforcement of the law and that thier time is well spent writting tickets now that most real crime is under control. --------------------------------- Sponsored Link Don't quit your job - take classes online and earn your degree in 1 year.
