I am interested in using Pelican 1550 boxes as rear Pannier boxes on my 06 KLR and am looking at the Happytrails SU rack. Anyone have experience or comments on this rack wrt installation and usage with the Pelican bags? Are there other options in the market, gotchas etc? Photos anyone?

Look at post 163562 for cheap pelican 1550 boxes on ebay.
And search on Pelican 1550 here. Search on the rack too. There has
been many posts on both.

I've had them on the bike since 2003. Recently spent 5 months in
Mexico and Gautemala, with said cases and SU rack, no problems. A
plus, when the bike somehow found itself on its side the case(s)
protected the tank and other body parts(no damage to cases). The
removing the bags using quick release pucks are something of a pain
when you have a fully loaded case.

desperately seeking mechanic

I am trying to locate a KLR 650 mechanic in or near Shreveport -
Bossier City, Louisiana. I need a 6K service, plus I want to go over
the bike with a fine tooth comb. And yes, I want to do the valves too.
Can any of you recommended an ace mechanic in, or within, 50 miles, of
the area? I would rather deal with a knowledgeable person than the
local dealership. BTW, no knock against the local dealer(s).
