Can't cure the KLR elec problem, but can offer a suggestion to manage it with Gerbing heated jacket gloves etc.
Ridding back from Bend OR to Seattle WA today across Santiam Pass 4,800', used jacket & gloves all the way. Have small voltage meter showing how much current is being pulled at whatever rpm I'm doing. If I go to negative simply turn Gerbing down i.e. at traffic lights, slow moving traffic.
Plus just installed AGM battery, high performance, both cold cranking & running (& high price too $80.00 on the web) , but good for my peace of mind & starting KLR in Bend today at 25 degress!!
