Saw a KLR with a set of IRC tires on it that looked pretty good. They were GP-110's, I think, although in the Dennis Kirk catalog they look more like the photo of the GP-1. Kirk may have transposed the photos.
Anyhow has anyone had these on their KLR??? What did you think of them.

My GP110 front tire is cupping/wearing significantly on the trailing edge of the center knobs only. What is the cause of this? Too low air pressure? It has been used only on the street. The rear doesn't show this wear pattern(2K miles).
The A7L is currently wearing a like new pair of IRC GP-1s. Are these pretty stable on the street or do they tend to be a bit squirrely?

Too low air pressure?
Probably. what pressure are you running?

This is normal wear for a knobby used on the street. When
you hit the front brake, the knobs roll a bit and the knobs
wear at a funny angle. The rear doesn't usually do this. You
can flip the front tire when it gets bad, and squeeze a few
thousand more miles out of it.

The Kenda K270 everyone uses are a complete rip-off of the
IRC GP-1. I've used a K270 front, it's squirrely. The knobs
roll around easily, even though the tire grips well it feels
a little funny. If you're used to street tires it's
disturbing, but you get used to it.

I had the same problem with my old 76 XT 500.
Tire pressure may be a factor but in my case, operator error was more
the cause.
I had a habit of using the front brake too much and too hard.
On the KLR I'm trying to use the engine, back brake and front brake
together and not fly up to my stops.
I'll try to do better, please believe me!

Rear brake? I thought it was only for panic stops or dirt. Between being hard on the front brake and maybe a little low on pressure is likely the cause.

The IRC GP1 has been my tire of choice for the last seven years. For myself,
I find the GP1 to be stable enough to corner hard enough to scuff the tires
to the outer most edge of the outer most row of knobs. My own preference is
to run 21/22 up front and 23 in the rear for solo riding. I get between
4000-5000 out of the rear and go through two rears for each front and I flip
the front around with the second rear tire.

I bought my KLR about 5000 miles ago and have been happy with the
Metzler Sahra Enduro 3's that were on. But they are ready to go. I am
looking at the same tire, Bridgestone Trailwings, or IRC GP1. The IRCs
seem too cheap to be good. Anybody have experience with these? I do
about 80/20 road/dirt and since it almost never rains here in northern
AZ it's dusty dirt, rocks and bed rock.

With that much road vs dirt, you might want to look at the IRC GP110s
instead of the GP1s.
I'm about through my first GP110 rear, and have been happy with it. I plan
on getting another.
