inverted forks for 2006 klr 650

Post by Viking Tours » Fri Apr 28, 2006 2:29 am

Hi, I just joined this forum and just had 3rd first ride of my 2006 KLR 650. Wish I had bought that bike 20 years ago.....I missed out on at least 20 years of fun! My question is, has any of you successfully changed your KLR forks to Inverted forks? Such as DRZ forks or KLX 650 forks? I keep hearing people say they did else where, but every time I click on the link, it ends up being a dead link. If people have been putting DRZ forks on, how does the 2.5 inches of extra fork travel affect the frame geometry? I would imagine that the rear would need a longer shock to even things out again. If anyone of you have tried this with good success or have step my step guides, links or know of people who sell conversion kits, I would reallhy be interested. Once I pack the bike away for Winter, I will be frothing at the mouth to make the changes with great excitement. I used to race Motocross 20 years ago, but I never remember having this type of fun as I had on this bike today. Now I see why the KLR has developed cult status all over ther world. Deservedly so. Thanks, L

I'm just thinking that would be too much tire for the KLR. Wide to the point of touching the chain guard and taller as to lower overall gear ratio as per larger diameter. May have to get out a tape measure or I guess I could do that later today as I do have that size on my R1150GSA. He he he he so I guess I could really say , Yes I'm running that tire.
