If you can find somebody willing to ride on a KLR with you from Wisconsin to California I am impressed. I will really be impressed if they are still with you after the trip (spouse, girlfriend ??). Let us know --- sweetassdave wrote:

I think it depends a lot on the passenger. For the KLR and driver, no problem. I believe Eldon Carl, one of the KLR guru's, rides with pillion quite a bit.

hahahaha. Sometimes the police do appreaciate a good plausible B.s answer. April 1st 92 or maybe 93 I rode my 87-klr650 from Olathe Ks, down to wichita Ks on I-35. Rode down in leather B-2 jacket and jeans. Nice sunny weather. That very night I started riding home after sunset and a blizzard snow started. That very same night a weather ballon drifted across my path before the cattle pens exit of Emporia. About pooped but then regained my mental state as I knew what is was from HAM radio. A couple of miles later a high way patrol officer pulls me over and ask's me if I'm Nuts for doing 83 mph in a heavy snow fall. I say yes sir I'm nuts. But if I do the 55 mph max under prime conditions(night time in blowing snow should be ~35-45 mph) I'm freezing my nuts off. but at 85 mph I get home and warm almost a hour ealier ! I can't feel the difference in this wind chill at 55mph or 85mph. The LEO let me go. And, by the way Do not ever assume the black mustang riding your ass in Hudspeth County (Sierra Tx) is a nut. He's a LEO who doesn't flash any grill lights(red/blue) Him and the Judge will throw you in jail for doing 88mph (klr250)in the 55mph. You can get a good tackle from the Sherrif and his partner when you make a left turn to open a gate and go camping. That happend to me in ~1988.
