Thinking I would like to get rid of the stock bulky fender in favor of
something that doesn't act like a sail in wind. LOL Any ideas on
brands? High fender vs. low fender?
Thanks,
Rick

I put an Acerbis Tecnik on my A19. It really improved the wind problem
and isn't big and ugly. I will post a picture this weekend but for
now, here is the website:

I put a Acerbis KTM fender on the other day. Works great, and looks much
better.

There is a lot of info on how to do it online. Lay the bike on it's
right side and it's significantly easier than doing it with the bike
standing, and you won't have to drain the oil. I did my doohickey
with the bike standing but didn't change the spring, and it took me
45 minutes. I did it the *second* time a couple of days later to
change the spring (yes, I am an idiot for thinking it was okay to
leave the original spring in) laying the bike on it's side and the
whole thing took something like 20 minutes, including consumption of
one fine Black Toad beer. There is something to be said for having
already done a procedure once, so you might become the local
expert/reference afterwards (which can't be a bad thing, right?).
BTW, if somebody's in West-Central Indiana or East-Central Illinois
and either wants help with it or wants to borrow the tools, let me
know...

newbie to the KLR 650- world and am trying to learn all I can at the
same time I don't want to get in over my head. Is the procedure a one
man job or should someone that has done it before be overlooking my
shoulder. I have never been inside of a bike engine before. Any tips
or pointers that you experienced fellows can assist me with? I just
want to ride the bike. Are there Tech Sessions around Dallas, Texas.
