Just wondered if anyone had similar problem. When I run my KLR in the rain, it starts to cut out intermittently. On the highway seems to keep going but stalls long enough to loose allot of speed. The last time in rain, on slow backroads, actually stopped motor going down hill. Restarted right away. For some reason going down hill cut out more. Never does this in dry. I bypassed the clutch switch, but have not gotten to the kickstand switch. Anyone know of anything else to check, to fix. -- James Morrow Sr Union, MO '00' RT + dual plug + Bunkhouse '00' BUSA + 15hp '05' KLR650 + big fun factor [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

T-Mod: http://www.bigcee.com/klr650faq.html#knownissues I had the same problem, it was the first mod I did on my KLR. It's also the easiest. I thought that it was only an issue with deep water crossings, but it happens in the rain, too. Mike James Morrow Sr wrote:

I'm guessing that the carb breather tube is getting clogged with water. This is the translucent pink tube that runs from the top left side of the carb and runs down near the rear shock and then vents from the bottom of the bike. This is a common problem. The fix is easy and inexpensive. Arrowhead motorsports sells a "T" connector that splices into the vent line a few inches from where it meets the carb. One side of the "T" runs down the normal path and the other runs under your seat. This allows the carb to breathe even if water from puddles splashes up and clogs the line under the bike. You can also get a plastic "T" or "Y" connector and plastic tubing that will work at most automotive or hardware stores for a few bucks at most. Multisuface Motocycling has a DIY write up on the mod you might find helpful: http://multisurfacemotorcycling.com/klrpage/carb/carb04.htm -----Original Message----- From: DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com [mailto:DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com] On Behalf Of James Morrow Sr Sent: Monday, February 27, 2006 3:10 PM To: DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com Subject: [DSN_KLR650] Cut out in Rain Just wondered if anyone had similar problem. Hi ya all, My older brother Juan needs some help, as he finds himself stranded in Argentina after 2 years on the road, should say "off the road" and his rear wheel has just given up, after having been welded for cracks twice and had a makeshift set of spokes installed... (here's his website) www.motoquimera.com Any gracious soul have an original wheel in good shape at a good price ?? Thank you sincerely. Ibarra.
