cultch problem?

After installing the SS brake lines I got from TPI, took the bike out for a spin, big
inprovement, nice upgrade. Got home after 25 miles our so, clean off the KLR (2001, 6800
miles) started it back up put it in gear and crunch! What the? This also happened last week
after a ride so I adjusted the clutch at the handel, left a little free play, so it went into 1st.
Also Its hard to get a clean shift into 2nd with out preloading the shift lever.
Both rides KLR went into 1st fine at the begining, just after I had shut it off and restarted I
had the problem. Any ideas?
