best break-in tips

If you get 100 responses, you will get 100 different answers. I have always tended to break-in without babying the engine. I don't mean run at 6000rpm for your 60 mile drive home. Holding a steady speed on the highway is not good. Vary your speed often. It's ok to run through the gears as long as you don't hold at high RPM. Don't lug the engine; 3000-4000rpm is a happy medium. Take it up to 60 or 70mph for a short way, then drop to 50 or so and keep varying it. After about 500 miles, replace the oil with whatever type you plan to run and keep pushing it just a little more. I know of one other guy that breaks his in even harder and has never had problems. Remember, no sustained high RPMs. Rod
