Are prospective KLR owners invited? A friend of mine and I are shopping for KLRs to take to Baja (Cabo) next year. This has been a goal of mine since I got my first motorcycle in the '60's. Randy, Everyone is welcome. Last time we had 15-20 spend at least some time there. We've had ZR-7's (is that the right model, Richard?), several V-Stroms, a VX800, and others - as well as all flavors of KLR's. After my dooectomy, with Dr. Colishaw (Eagle Mike) assisting in the the surgery, the prognosis for another 40K is excellent. Thanks alot Buddy, I mean "Buddy", what a day! Tools, parts, straps, coffee, pastries, sandwiches, smoke, fire, ashes, fire engines, tourists, grease, oil, dirt, 20 KLR's, twisty roads, red sun. Apocalyptic day! One broken spring in an '03, with 2k miles. 2 that would not adjust, until case and bolt removed and side of lever tapped with ratchet handle. 1 moved when bolt backed out 2 turns. 1 bike had the factory part nicked by the starter gear, had obviously been adjusted on the side stand, part had skewed on shaft, and not properly re-seated. I had a good time meeting new friends, and seeing familiar faces. Mark B made it down - way to go Mark - keep healing! I can't remember all the names, but the famous Stu made it down in time to get a sandwich in the afternoon. Hi All I saw in a previous post that another Julian Tech Day is scheduled for the end of February. I would be interested in attending and bringing my new to me A17 down for a doohicky transplant. My questions are: 1. Which parts/tools/gaskets/fluids etc do I need to bring, and where do I get them from or can I buy them at the Tech session. 2. I am thinking about getting to Julian the night before. Is there a good place to stay and hang out with other KLR'ers that might also be in the neighborhood? Hi Randy, As far as parts go, Eagle Mike will be at the Tech day with levers and springs, thanks to Elden Carl I have two sets of gaskets (inner and outer, although if you're really careful you can reuse the originals (that's thanks to Richard May)), bring the refreshing fluids of your choice........the local gas station and what passes for a hardware store up here has a VERY limited assortment of oils. I usually have a case of Castrol 20/50 or Pennzoil 10/40 on hand, however. There are several really nice hotels/motels in town and and a gamut of B&B's that run from $115 to $400 per night. Maybe you could talk amongst yourselfs and see who's coming up early. Let me know and we can all get together for dinner the night before. I've got a nice little restaurant with two bikes in the basement where we can raise a little heck until we thrown out. See you on the 28th. Buddy

I only saw one write-up regarding Buddy Seifert's tech day in Julian. An amazing turnout with at least 30 people showing up especially considering how rainy it had been before. Many KLR experts were on-hand, including Mike from Eagle Manufacturing, the Savage of the KLR Eldon Carl, Mark the webmaster for multisurfacemotorcycling.com and many others. A friend got there early and didn't get to start his Doohickectomy until 2:30pm, because the shop was full of people working on their bikes. He finished at 4:30 and joined nine of us (four from the tech session) for a catered campout at the hot springs in Niland CA. (about 120 miles). My friend got there at o-dark-thirty, just as Carnitas dinner was being served. After dinner the camp host provided a free keg and live music.
