advice on new bike

I'm fairly new to dualsport riding, I always called it enduro riding when i was younger. Im looking at getting a bike and I'm really stuck. Im stuck between a BMW 650GS or a KLR650. I know the price difference is a big factor. Side by side the KLR has more of everything such as ground clearence etc. Only drawback is the seat height, I'm 5'7" and would need to lower it. How does the KLR do on somewhat long trips? Any advice is appreciated...I'm leaning about 90% towards the KLR at this point... Thanks Chad

Keep studyin, you'll keep steerin. The KLR is no height challenge. It sags an inch in the first year you own it. HHHHAAAAAAAAARRRR!!!!! Really, I've been blessed with a 30inch inseam. go for the klr I lowered mine I have a 28 inseam and love my klr short or long haul it gets the job done.has a great support group here and is one of the most trouble free bikes I have had a really fun bike to ride on road or off rddevill south Arkansas ---------- No virus found in this outgoing message. I've bought and lowered 2 new KLR's this year, one for my wife and one for myself. We're inseamed challenged.I lowered her bike 3" using the Scootworks links and lowered my bike 2" using Happy Trails links. The bike works fine. If you're planning on doing serious, single track offroad trails, the klr is the wrong bike to begin with. I'm a former offroad rider and there are better bikes suited for just offroad. That said, I live in the mountains of Colorado and have taken my bike offroad, just not the same gnarly trails I used to ride with other bikes. The klr does fine. The taller riders who tell you the bike sags in a year or settles when you sit on it, don't get it. Feet on the ground is a safe position. Both my wife and I love our lowered bikes. Klr is more of a dual sport. The BMW is heavier but has more power so is better on the road but worse off road. The beemer costs more but the quality is reportedly much higher. They're both very good bikes. I prefer the KLR. One big reason is this list. You wont' get this sort of support on the BMW list-I know.
